Tyrone D'Lisle
My passion is developing evidence-based policy that improves people's lives while protecting and restoring the natural world. I spent several years as a member of the Australian Greens, including running for federal parliament and local government.
Over time, I became increasingly frustrated by scientific blind spots within Green politics and the broader environmental movement. Opposition to technologies such as nuclear energy and gene technology can persist even when the evidence shows they could help solve major environmental and social challenges. I came to believe that environmentalism must be willing to challenge its own orthodoxies and change its positions when the evidence demands it.
That conviction led me to co-found WePlanet Australia and build an environmental movement grounded in science, pragmatism and optimism about humanity's capacity for progress.
