McChoice Earth Day Action
Bold protest outside McDonald's this Earth Day to demand Maccas give the 1 in 4 Aussies wanting to reduce their meat consumption a McChoice. This is important because animal agriculture is a major cause of climate change and biodiversity loss.

About the event
McDonald's is the biggest fast-food corporation in the world. They are a dominant supporter of animal farming, and one of the biggest killers of animals worldwide.
Whilst Australians are striving to eat less meat, McDonald's Australia is doubling down on their meat products by reintroducing the McRib and other new meat-based products. Meanwhile in Europe, plant-based options are becoming the norm in McDonald's and other major fast-food outlets.
We are holding a protest outside McDonald's on Earth Day. This action is part of the McChoice campaign, which demands McDonald's Australia offer a plant-based menu.
This campaign isn't simply for vegans, it is about recognising the disproportionate amount of land and resources that are being used on this continent to produce animal products, and a shared understanding that further expansion is environmentally irresponsible. This means that people should be given the choice to reduce their animal product consumption everywhere, and especially from corporations with the purchasing power and ubiquitous presence of McDonald's.
Around 50% of the entire Australian landmass is used for animal agriculture! Regardless of whether you eat meat, or are fully plant-based, many can agree that this is an extraordinary amount of land devoted to an inefficient means of food production. McDonald's Australia is a huge buyer of Australian meat, and will continue to expand their operations regardless of the environmental consequences.
You don't have to be vegan or vegetarian to join us, this is about holding corporations responsible and giving people the choice to reduce their animal product consumption.
Meet us at 11:30am for a 12pm start. We will be wearing animal masks, holding charts, and distributing leaflets to the public during the lunch rush hour. We will then head over to Mr Charlie's to enjoy a plant-based lunch and debrief!
In the meantime please head over to our website and sign the petition!
p.s. even if you hate McDonald's, the sad reality is they are still the most popular fast food outlet in Australia, and the world. This means they aren't going to disappear anytime soon. So whilst they are here and guzzling up resources and shoving their advertisements in everyone's faces, we think we should demand they be better. Furthermore, mainstreaming plant-based products is a win for animals (humans included), and this wonderful planet.
